SIMIAN _ ØRESTAD'S NEW EXHIBITION SPACE
Ørestad might be best known for its innovative take on architecture and planning, but it is thought that soon it will also be known for the art scene. While several artists such as Bjørn Nørgård, Per Kirkeby and Dan Graham, already made their mark in the district, a new art venue is scheduled to open its doors for the public on the 5th of September.
Meant to house experimental contemporary art, Simian will form a framework for exhibitions and events that will illuminate and challenge complex connections and perspectives in our shared experience, understanding and navigation in the present.
The team behind Simian in comprised of 4 talented visual artists: Markus von Platen, Christian Vindelev, Toke Flyvholm and Jan S. Hansen. The idea took shape back in 2016, when two of the artists used the bicycle cellar for their collaborative exhibition. 4 years forward, the complete venue is scheduled to house its first vernissage ‘Some of the Whole’, a group exhibition with works by 15 artists from home and abroad.
The exhibition opens on Saturday the 5th September at 15.00-21.00 and can be experienced until 18 October.
